Capricorns embody hard work, determination and structure. Ruled by Saturn, they are constantly aware of time, boundaries, and completion. As cardinal earth signs, they bring the dark season of Winter, a time where we give thanks for all we have and bid farewell to things in life that hold us back. In this time of darkness, Capricorns are comfortable travelling inwards to think and reflect, though this can often lead to a pessimistic or cynical disposition. But like all cardinal signs, they are full of ideas, clever and innovative, bringing a spark of creativity that inspires and challenges us to think bigger. In Greek mythology, the constellation of Capricorn stems from this story:

“When the Earth-born Typhon was ravaging both the heavens and earth, all the gods were in fear so they fled to different parts of the world. Zeus, with his thunderbolts, was the only one strong enough to face Typhon. During the great escape, the god Pan transformed his goat legs into a fish tail to swim down the River Nile to safety. When Zeus was weakened by Typhon, Pan and Hermes returned to aid him, using their tricks and wiles to deceive the beast. This allowed Zeus to fully recover and defeat Typhon. For this display of loyalty and courage, Zeus honored Pan in the stars as the constellation Capricorn.”
