Bold and daring Aries springs forth, igniting the zodiac as the firstborn sign of the wheel, and ushering in Spring with new growth and vitality. As the newborn of the zodiac and a cardinal sign, we are inspired by their trailblazing confidence. Much like its ruling planet, Mars, the element of Aries is fire. This fuels them with determination, willpower and devotion, but can cause them to be restless, stubborn, and combative as well. Ruling the first house, we look to Aries for new beginnings and establishing our goals and initiatives. 

“The Chrysomallos was a mythical winged ram imbued with a fleece of gold. Sired by the sea god Poseidon and the nymph Theophane, the Chrysomallos was sent to rescue the doomed children of King Athamas when their new stepmother, Queen Ino sought their demise. King Athamas fathered his two children, Phrixus and Helle with the nymph Neophale, but left her when he fell in love with Ino. Fearing for the lives of her children, Neophale prayed to Poseidon to save Phrixus and Helle. The Chrysomallos flew them over the sea to the kingdom of Colchis, but on the journey Helle lost her life as she fell from the back of the ram and into the sea. Phrixus was welcomed into Colchis by Aeëtes, and sacrificed the ram to Poseidon in gratitude for his rescue. The ram’s fleece was then preserved and hung from an oak tree in a sacred grove to the war god Ares. Eventually, Jason and the Argonauts came to capture the fleece as a task set off for them on their own heroic journey.”
